Emerging impacts of the Early Language Development Programme
The Early Language Development Programme (ELDP) is an early intervention training programme funded by the Department of Education (DfE) and led by I CAN. Since February 2012, the programme has been helping to create a better skilled workforce, with the knowledge, confidence and skills to support speech, language and communication development in the early years. It builds upon the success of Every Child a Talker (ECAT) and targets pre-school children, with a particular focus on under 3’s.
OPM’s was commissioned to evaluate the ELDP and produced an interim evaluation report in September 2013. OPM has also produced 12 case studies which demonstrate how different areas in England have rolled out the programme, and the impact it has had on practitioners, parents and children.
OPM’s final evaluation report will be available in late 2014.
