'Since joining OPM in 2007, I have had the opportunity to work on a range of projects and to develop both my qualitative and quantitative research skills. I enjoy designing research methodology, using my knowledge and understanding of research to think about how we can best meet a client's needs to improve social results. I also enjoy designing research tools for projects, thinking about the language and the questions to use to enable participants to share their experiences and views, whether through an online survey or a facilitated focus group.
I have developed a particular expertise in the use of specialised software packages for the analysis of data, such as SPSS to analyse quantitative data and NVivo to analyse qualitative data and have been able to apply this in my recent project work. Most recently, I have been involved in managing and delivering evaluations that employ a multi-method approach, particularly in the fields of social care, health and well-being. I am currently working on a two-year programme evaluation that uses the principles of a loyalty card – an incentive approach from the private sector - and applies them to the public sector, with the aim of improving health outcomes.'
