Hilary’s main focus is on improvement in services, including strategy, commissioning, new ownership models and organisational development.
‘My work as a consultant over many years has focused on helping leaders and managers to identify and take forward changes that will improve services and make a bigger difference to people and communities. My particular interests have been in children’s services, other local government services, local health partners and education. As a qualified and experienced executive coach, I also work with public service leaders across sectors and helping individuals to realise their own potential and drive forward progress for their organisations.
I have deep experience of change in public services and the third sector. I was fortunate to be a director and then chief executive of OPM for several years, during which time we expanded OPM’s offers to clients and developed our employee-ownership model. Previously, I was a senior local government officer, an executive consultant with one of the big London firms, and a fast stream civil servant working on policy and planning. I am a strong believer in good governance and have held governance roles in HE and a charity, and been a secondary school governor.
My aim is always to help improve social outcomes. I particularly enjoy analysing what is going on in organisations and local systems and finding new solutions to long-standing challenges.’
