David delivers OPM’s ILM Level 5 and 7 Certificates in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring and has managed a range of leadership and management development programmes with local authorities, in the health service and in the post-16 education sector.
David has particular interests in helping public service leaders to be proactive in shaping effective and efficient service provision, including strengthening personal and organisational capability to address the challenges associated with sustaining responsiveness and quality. He strongly believes in the importance of reflective practice for building and sustaining personal and collective resilience, particularly in challenging times. In addition to executive coaching assignments and programmes, David is involved in enhancing the coaching capabilities of managers and in enabling organisations to create and sustain coaching cultures.
Approach as an executive coach:
David is interested in the place of learning in improving personal impact and performance and sees coaching as a highly effective way of blending business priorities with leadership learning. He aims to build coachees’ capacity to self-coach and to use coaching techniques with colleagues as one way of building organisational cultures where individual and team learning contributes to improved service provision and business operations.
