Cathy has extensive experience within the NHS and expertise in developing and implementing healthcare policy and reform at national, regional and local level.
Cathy is passionate about improving the quality of healthcare services and ensuring people have equity of access and are treated safely and effectively. She has over 20 years of leadership and senior management experience within the NHS and has spent the last 10 years working with senior leaders of national organisations including the Department of Health, National Cancer Action Team, Care Quality Commission, Healthcare Commission and Commission for Health Improvement.
She has experience of working with primary, secondary and tertiary care services across the NHS. Her areas of specialist expertise include quality assurance, regulation and clinical governance as well as specific areas of clinical policy including respiratory disease, cancer, mental health, learning disabilities and coronary heart disease. She has a particular interest in facilitating collaborative working across organisational boundaries and in improving the joint commissioning of integrated pathways of care.
Cathy is currently working with a number of national patient charities and professional, clinical organisations within the respiratory community to establish collaborative arrangements for a Respiratory Alliance in England, which will focus on improving patient outcomes, quality of healthcare services and providing better information and support for people with lung disease.
