'Much of my work involves designing and carrying out research which empowers participants to express their views and influence the organisations they engage with. I am passionate about engaging with individuals and communities to help improve public services and find creative solutions to old problems. With a background in the voluntary sector, I enjoy working with voluntary sector organisations and those they serve to better equip them in these changing times of public service delivery.
I enjoy designing methods to enable participants to fully take part in the research process. Recent highlights have been our work with a group of young mental health service users to take part, shape and comment on a national review of mental health services for children and young people. Managing research with people on low incomes and using video-ethnography to help understand and communicate their experiences and concerns was also a rewarding and worthwhile endeavour.'
