'Experiences and Expectations of Disabled People'
— a
project being carried
out for the Office for Disability Issues
This research is intended to capture the experiences and expectations of disabled adults … in all aspects of their lives. We are asking disabled people to tell us about their experiences and to express their views, suggestions and recommendations about what would improve their day-to-day lives.
This forum is not the only way you can tell us your ideas. If you would rather talk to someone in person or by telephone, please call Chloe Cook at OPM on 020 7239 7913
As a member of the reference network you have an important role in deciding what the research should be looking at. One way you can do this is to use this on-line discussion forum.
You can log in to the forum by clicking the log-in button at the top of the page [or you can use your Tab key instead of a mouse]. Or use this link to log in: http://www.opm.co.uk/ODI/forum/login_user.asp).
You should already have been given a log-in name and password to use. If you think you ought to be able to log in, but you have not yet been sent a password, email Phil Copestake at OPM to request a log-in name and password
Using the forum
1. Your profile
Once you have logged into the forum, you may wish to change your password or other details. Click the 'edit profile' button to do that.
We have tried to make this page and the discussion forum accessible to everyone, whether they have a disability or not. But we are still learning how to do this. We want to know if there are accessibility problems that make it hard for you to use the forum. Please let us know of any improvements you think we could make.
Afterwards, click on 'Return to the main discussion forum' to go back to the main page.
'Your profile' only contains the information needed to make the forum work. We do not ask for personal details. You can choose whether or not you want to include your email address and location.
2. Contributing your ideas
Click on 'Forum 1', under the heading 'Available forums'. This is the only discussion forum so far. We may add more forums later on.
You will see a list of 'threads' which are discussions that other people have
started. Click on any topic thread to read what the person has said.
You can add your own ideas on that topic by clicking the 'post reply' button.
Or you can start a new discussion thread on a subject that interests you by clicking the 'New Post' button.
From any part of the forum you can click the 'Return to the main discussion forum' to go back to the list of topics.
If you would like help with using the forum, please email Leila Carlyle at OPM or telephone her on 020 7239 0877.
