This booklet looks at how a focus on co-production could produce the greater public service effectiveness required by the Children Act and Every Child Matters: Next Steps. It sets out the practical details of a new model for achieving this, based on OPM's research, that will help public service managers.

The authors also examine the reasons for moving towards co-production in all areas of public service, and explain the core ideas behind it and how these can be adapted. They show that unless co-production is at the heart of our new, integrated services, the improvement in outcomes that people working in children's services desire will simply not happen.
